Girls Wrestling Roundup: 2025 State Championships

Three area wrestlers earned medals at the 7th Girls MSHSAA Wrestling Championships in Class 2 from Feb. 28 through March 1 in Columbia, Mo.

Park Hill South's Lucia Henriquez took third, Park Hill's Reilly Kastner took fifth and Platte County's Charley Sims took sixth. Park Hill South finished the highest of the three schools, earning 38 team points, which was 18th overall in Class 2.

Henriquez concluded her high school wrestling career with a second-place medal at 145 pounds in Class 2. Henriquez got Park Hill South back on the medal stand at the state level for the first time since 2023.

The Baker University commit persevered after a quarterfinal defeat via technical fall. She battled back past the rest of her competition, pinning her way through the consolations before winning her third-place match with a pin at 1:45 against Kamryn Bourbon of Nixa.

Kastner became Park Hill's only medalist in her second state appearance. Kastner has hit the midway point in her Trojan wrestling career with a state medal and a 37-8 sophomore record.

The Trojan settled for fifth at 130 pounds after losses in the quarterfinal and consolation semifinal rounds. She clinched her medal with a 5-2 decision in the fifth-place match over Darilyn George of Lee's Summit West.

Sims' junior campaign concluded with a sixth-place medal in Columbia at 115 pounds. In her first trip to the state tournament last weekend, Sims earned Platte County's only state medal.

The Pirate started the state tournament strong with decisive victories in the opening round and quarterfinal but could not recover enough momentum. After a technical fall in the semifinal, Sims suffered a decision loss in the consolation semifinal before slipping to sixth after getting edged out with a 2-1 decision in the fifth-place match against Eureka's Kirra Dunscombe.
