A year after finishing second at state, the Platte County boys tennis team has its sights set on getting back to Springfield for the Final Four in late May.
The Platte County girls soccer team will lean on the experience of its nine seniors as they hunt for their first district championship since 2021.

After 80 minutes of scoreless play to start the girls soccer season, goalkeeper heroics from Anna Pudenz led Park Hill South to a 3-1 penalty shootout victory against Platte County on Thursday, March 20, in the Platte County Invitational.
No. 2 seed Platte County is still dancing inside Pirate Fieldhouse after taking care of business in the Class 5 District 8 girls basketball tournament against Van Horn on March 6 and a tough Smithville team on March 8.

PARKVILLE – Throughout the 32-game season, Platte County (20-12) only had two losses to Class 5 teams with both defeats coming against the same rival.
INDEPENDENCE – Some of the best athletes in the Kansas City metro area gathered at William Chrisman High School for the Class 5 Sectional 4 Track and Field Meet with a state berth on the line on May 18.
SMITHVILLE – It took all 80 minutes of regulation, two 15-minute overtime periods and penalty kicks to decide who would move on to the Class 3 District 8 Girls’ Soccer Semifinals.
PLATTE CITY – In the first 12 years of having a boys’ tennis program, Platte County had never won a district championship and has now clinched back-to-back district titles.
PLATTE CITY – Platte County (18-11) proved the motto, ‘it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish’ to be true with an impressive 15-3 mark on the baseball field since April 1 to enter the postseason on a hot streak.
SMITHVILLE – Out of the 11 teams that competed in the Class 4 District 4 Boys’ Golf Match, Platte County finished in fourth place at Paradise Pointe Golf Complex on May 6.
PLATTE COUNTY – It’s been an up-and-down girls’ soccer season among the three teams in Platte County.
PLATTE CITY – In a span of 72 hours, Park Hill (4-10) was tasked with taking on two soccer teams within the county, beating Platte County (3-7) and losing to Park Hill South (15-1).
KANSAS CITY – In the month of April, the only baseball team who has been able to beat Platte County (11-9) was Staley (15-6) on April 18.
KANSAS CITY – When Platte County and Park Hill matched up at Tiffany Greens Golf Course, the Trojans came out with the victory on April 17.
NORTH KANSAS CITY – The only team that Platte County (5-6) lost to in the North Kansas City Girls’ Soccer Tournament was the eventual champion as Kearney (6-6) came out on top in the semifinals on April 19.
