JEFFERSON CITY – Relying heavily on the senior tandem of Brooke Boehm and Mackenzie Moretina writing their final chapters of Park Hill athletics, the Lady Trojans took 17th place at the Class 5 State Track and Field Meet at Jefferson City High School on May 25.
JEFFERSON CITY – For the second time in the last three years, the Park Hill boys wrapped up state track and field with a state champion – and nearly added another.
JEFFERSON CITY – The third time was the charm for Platte County, which needed that many years in Class 5 to get back to competing at state.
JEFFERSON CITY – Having six athletes perform in seven events at the Class 5 State Meet at Jefferson City High School, Park Hill South wrapped up the spring with a trio of medalists on May 24 and 25.
NORTH KANSAS CITY – The Park Hill South soccer program left it all on the field this school year, ending the fall and spring in agony in the aftermath of historical campaigns.
SMITHVILLE – It took all 80 minutes of regulation, two 15-minute overtime periods and penalty kicks to decide who would move on to the Class 3 District 8 Girls’ Soccer Semifinals.
NORTH KANSAS CITY – Park Hill (5-12) faced an uphill battle when giving up a goal in the opening four minutes of the Class 4 District 8 Girls’ Soccer Tournament at Oak Park High School on May 11.
LEE’S SUMMIT – Needing to beat the Staley girls in the final race to claim second place in the Kansas City Suburban Conference Silver Division Track and Field Meet, Park Hill did just that with a 4:08.37 4x400 at Lee’s Summit North High School on May 1.
PLATTE CITY – In a span of 72 hours, Park Hill (4-10) was tasked with taking on two soccer teams within the county, beating Platte County (3-7) and losing to Park Hill South (15-1).
KANSAS CITY – North Platte (17-2) will forever be imprinted in the history books of being the inaugural champions of the First Annual Northland Christian Baseball Invitational on April 27.
KANSAS CITY – In the month of April, the only baseball team who has been able to beat Platte County (11-9) was Staley (15-6) on April 18.
PARKVILLE – Dating back to 2022, the Park Hill girls’ soccer team (3-8) has struggled at the Park Hill District Soccer Stadium and has now won back-to-back games there.
PARKVILLE – In the aftermath of 80 minutes of scoreless rivalry soccer through regulation, it only took Park Hill South (9-0) 73 seconds of extra play to send Park Hill (1-6) home with its third overtime loss of the season on April 2.
DEARBORN – Coming off a one-run, 11-inning heartbreaking loss against Lawson (9-1), North Platte played stellar baseball through two innings against St. Joseph Christian (3-1) before a thunderstorm caused a postponement on April 1.
KANSAS CITY – Like many seasons in the past, Platte County, Park Hill and Park Hill South competed in the Staley Relays – an early season track and field meet that focuses on relays instead of individual races – on March 29.
PLATTE CITY – Deciding to partake in the early season Platte County Girls’ Soccer Invitational worked out well for Park Hill South (4-0), which walked away with a first-place finish.
PARKVILLE – Taking an early 3-0 lead and looking to snap a three-game losing skid at the time, the Platte County baseball team (2-5) let that lead slip away and Park Hill South (5-3) came out on top, 4-3, on March 20.
LIBERTY – Meeting up for the third time in 21 days, Park Hill South (15-12) and Staley’s (27-2) most recent matchup was the most important one, being the Class 6 District 8 Girls’ Basketball Championship at Liberty High School on March 4.
DEARBORN – Needing one more win to make it to the Class 2 Girls’ Basketball Final Four, North Platte (24-6) ran into the No. 1 ranked team in the state, Skyline (28-2), on March 1.
OAK PARK - The fourth quarter of the postseason matchup between Park Hill and Liberty took 30 minutes and the 17-point comeback came up short in the packed Oak Park Gymnasium on Feb. 29.
NORTH KANSAS CITY - The season ended the same way for Park Hill South each of the last five years, a loss to Staley.
COLUMBIA - Over the span of four days, 30 athletes from the five school in Platte County competed at state wrestling at Mizzou Arena.
DEARBORN - Being tied with top-seeded University Academy in the final seconds without two starters who had fouled out, Blair McHenry beat the buzzer to send the West Platte girls’ basketball team to a district championship for the first time since 1996.
GOWER - In what ended up being the greatest season that the North Platte boys’ basketball program has had in nearly 20 years ended with a tough playoff loss when East Buch drilled 11 shots from downtown on Feb. 20.
KANSAS CITY - It took two seasons and four tries, but Kennedi Dorrell was finally able to lead the Park Hill girls’ basketball team past Park Hill South on Feb. 8.
DEARBORN - Courtwarming lived up to the hype for the North Platte boys’ basketball team, which needed the home crowd to help hold off Lawson (7-12) in a dramatic fashion on Feb. 6.
DEABORN - In what was a relatively even game in three of the four quarters of play, the North Platte girl’s basketball team (18-4) used a strong second period to hold a double-digit margin over Lawson (13-8) and defeat yet another KCI Conference foe on Feb. 6.
PARKVILLE – Only 11 days removed from losing to North Kansas City (16-5) by 26 points in the Hornets’ boys’ basketball tournament, Park Hill South (7-14) nearly pulled off the upset against the same opponent at home on Jan. 30.
NORTH KANSAS CITY – Having won the North Kansas City Girls’ Basketball Tournament each of the last two years, Park Hill South (10-8) had the opportunity to three-peat in the championship game against Blue Valley North (11-2) on Feb. 2.
